This calotte shaped seal can be dated around 3000 B.C. It depicts two horned animals in tete beche position. A Drill was used, characteristical for the Jemdet Nasr Period (ex Medusa Ancient Art)
This is a typical Jemdet Nasr cylinder seal of the "seated women" group, they frequently occur in the Diyala region, Iraq and are often made of red or pinkish limestone.(ex Hixenbaugh Ancient Art, now in the collection of P.M.)
